China & Doors

I am going to China in December!

I want to do a series on something, and I'm thinking a series on doors.  I am excited to see the differences in the doors here and the ones in China.

I hope to have some posted soon.

Shoes of EPICOSITY!!

Shoes...I love shoes.

These are exact replicas of the Manolo Blahnik's that Sarah Jessica Parker wears in Sex and the City the movie. So pretty.

We had to light the shoes and set up a scene that suited them.

Can you guess my setting?

......................................................................................................................Yep. New Years Eve party!

Tabletop

Large format camera + Transparency film + Farrall light + Small objects on a table = awesome

I love transparency film. It's so beautiful. And you simply cannot beat the color quality.

These are tarot cards that I had to have because the artist is amazing. Just look at that detail!

Stunning.

I make my friends look GEWD continued... ;)

©Angela Korniotes
Chelsea will hate me for posting this but you can't be serious all the time. Right?

This is a "snooted" flash. I think it makes her look especially gorgeous.

Don't you?

Yep.

I thought so.

I make my friends look GEWD!!!

This was a digital portrait assignment.

We had to use either natural light, (just outside really) or window light.

I went with God's giant soft box, (it was an overcast day).  Outside under the clouds.

This lovely model is Emma Kepley.

Americana Take 2

Well I thought last weeks' blog assignment was Americana. However, everyone tells me I'm wrong and well when such an overwhelming number of people tell me I'm wrong, even my most ridiculous stubborn face can't compete.

So I decided to post a diptych of this very cute puppy. I can't remember her name just now, but her owner was equally precious.

HDR

HDR - High Dynamic Range.

Honestly I don't really know what that means.

Which is sad considering. Though I'm okay with that. I like the look of it.

Though it goes against my purest grain. I'm not a fan of digital photography other than its ability to be easier to work with.

I am a B&W film photographer at heart, and the digital age everyone has been swept up in just sort of makes me sad really. However, I can't debunk the merit of the very beautiful images that can be created with it. Though once you start changing the very nature of the image in post processing, I feel it is no longer "photography" and has then moved into "multimedia." This is a very beautiful medium and can create amazing art, but it's not the same thing anymore. It's just not.

OKAY. Now that I've stood on my soap box for a while, I think I'll come down and just say that while HDR isn't my everyday preference, I do like it when it's not over done. So this is mine.
